Shipwreck from WW2 found near Australia

On saturday, Australian researchers were laooking for the shipwreck of the HMAS Sydney, but instead found the wreck of the German vessel that sunk the Sydney during World War II. The German destroyer Kormoran was about 95 miles out of the westcoast of Australia (Shark Bay), as released by prime minister Kevin Rudd.

The HMAS sydney was surprised by the Kormoran which disguised itself as a Dutch merchant vessel. The shipwreck of the Sydney is yet to be found. No survivors were reported. The German seamen however were able to flee to Australian territory where they were captured.

“Finding the Kormoran is an important piece of the puzzle that’s 65 years old”, said Rudd. Researchers state that it is far from sure that they will soon find the location of the HMAS Sydney as well. “There’s no guarantee at all, we are looking in extremely deep water.” says Ted Graham.

However, not much later, the HMAS Sydney was discovered as well.

Ancient Temple discovered in Peru

Peruvian archaeologists found an ancient temple near the Inca capital of Cuzco. The structures found, or rather the ruins of them were a temple & an irrigation system. They say these date back to before the Inca ear in the 15th century. Theories are that the temple had a military and religious use. The temple shows characteristics from pre-Inca as well as Inca styles.

The archaeologists, still waiting for the results of carbon dating, are fairly sure these remains were founded by the Ayamarca (900-1200).
